FAQ
Chiropractic Care
-
It a highly specific, quick movement of the hands applied to a joint to restore mobility and support the brain body communication. We utilise different techniques that variate in speed and force to create an adjustment, making it a safe, non-invasive option that is suitable for all.
-
The noise people associate with adjustments is the release of gas or air bubbles from the fluid inside the joint. You may not always hear this sound, and this does not mean the adjustment has not been successful. Depending on the person, from their age or reduced spinal movement, we adapt our techniques to suit each joint.
-
Chiropractic adjustments are generally not painful. Most people feel relief during or after the adjustment, as the technique is designed to be gentle and precise. You may experience mild soreness, similar to how you might feel after exercise, but this typically fades withing 24/48hours. Chiropractors tailor the adjustment to each person's comfort level, making it a safe and non-invasive approach to relieving discomfort and improving joint mobility. If there has been long term inflammation or acute injury your chiropractor will discuss with you which adjustments may be more tender due to localised inflammation.

Chiropractic care is safe when performed by a licenced and trained chiropractor. It is a non-invasive, drug free approach to addressing musculoskeletal issues and chiropractors tailor their techniques to each individual’s needs. Serious side effects are rare, and the most common reactions, such as mild soreness or stiffness, are typically short-lived. Our chiropractors are regulated healthcare professionals, trained and qualified to strict standards and registered with the General Chiropractic Council, who regulate chiropractors in the UK to ensure the safety of patients undergoing chiropractic treatment. Our chiropractors have undergone extensive training to ensure they can safety treat patients or all ages, including pregnant women, infants and the elderly. It is important to consult with your chiropractor about your medical history to ensure the best care for your specific situation.

Yes, your chiropractor will fully assess you and modify adjustments accordingly

Historically the key difference between a chiropractor and an osteopath lies in their specialised focus and treatment methods. Chiropractors are highly trained experts in the spine and nervous system, using precise spinal adjustments to correct misalignments, enhance nervous system function, and address issues like back pain, neck pain, and headaches. Chiropractic care is a focused, non-invasive approach that directly targets the root of many musculoskeletal problems by improving spinal health. Osteopaths, while also trained in manual therapy work with the muscles, joints, and body systems using a range of techniques like massage stretching and mobilistions. In practice, as both professions have evolved the differences are primarily in the personal treatment style of the practitioner.
-
Our chiropractors will be honest and transparent if they feel that chiropractic care is not a good fit for you at that time, and they may refer you to your GP or another health care provider.
-
No you are able to self refer, although we do take a lot of referrals from GPs.
-
The number of treatments you need will vary depending on your specific situation, based on factors including your age, severity and length of time you’ve had the condition and how willing you are to implement lifestyle changes. You will receive a personalised care plan which will be regularly reviewed with progress exams and adjusted as necessary. Our aim is to get you feeling better as soon as possible, and we recommend keeping up regular adjustments to keep your spine stable and nervous system functioning at a high level

Yes, our chiropractors have extensive training in working with young patients and have treated newborns as young as 1 day old. Some babies go through upper-cervical, cranial or sacral trauma during birth even when it is natural, which can lead to restrictions in their spine early on. We will use gentle, non-invasive traction, craniosacral and massage techniques. Many of our parents have reported reduced symptoms of colic, reflux, increased sleep and being more settled. We often tell parents that the pressure we use is similar to someone putting a contact lens in.
