Why Sports Therapy?

Sports Therapy isn’t just about injury, it’s an essential element of physical activity and maintaining physical well being. Think of your body as a finely tuned machine – even the most high performance systems require maintenance to stay in peak condition. Sports Therapy is vital for both injury prevention and rehabilitation, using a diverse set of tailored techniques, including therapeutic exercise and manual therapy to address injuries effectively, prevent injuries and enhance overall physical function.

How can it help?

Sports Therapy focuses on strengthening muscles, increasing flexibility, and improving joint mobility — allowing individuals to achieve their specific rehabilitation goals, whether that is returning to their favourite activities or living pain-free.

Who is Sports Therapy for?

The clue actually isn’t in the name – Sports Therapy is beneficial for a wide range of people, including athletes, recreational sports enthusiasts and anyone experiencing musculoskeletal pain. Whether you are doing a couch-to-5k, training for an ultra marathon, or your pain stems from gardening or lifting a child, Sports Therapy caters to all ages and fitness levels, offering a personalised approach to recovery and performance enhancement.

Why Sports Therapy at The Chiropractic Hub?

At The Chiropractic Hub we take a full-body approach, assessing each individual holistically, not just focusing on the injury. We tailor our rehabilitation plans to your specific goals, ensuring you get back to your desired functional, occupational, or sports-specific fitness levels as soon as possible. By working closely with chiropractors, we offer a well-rounded and comprehensive care plan tailored to your unique needs.

What to expect

  • Prior to your first consultation, we will send you an assessment form to complete online. You will receive a link to this in your booking confirmation email and we kindly ask that you return this at least 24 hours before your appointment to give your therapist the chance to review it.

  • During your first appointment, your sports therapist will undertake a thorough assessment covering your medical history, muscle testing alongside specific concerns and goals.

The therapist will then create a personalised treatment plan using various techniques to support your recovery and enhance physical function.

Your initial consultation will take approximately 45 minutes.

  • In your second appointment the therapist will take you through your personalised treatment and rehabilitation plan.

You will also receive your first treatment, which may include deep tissue massage, therapeutic exercises, stretches, medical acupuncture & dry needling and sports taping, all depending on the injury.

This appointment will take 45 minutes.

  • We tailor our rehabilitation plans to the patient’s specific goals, ensuring you get back to your desired functional, occupational, or sports-specific fitness levels. This will differ for each person.

    Appointments are 30 minutes.

“The Sports Therapy consultation with Phoebe was awesome. It was night and day from assessments I have had with physios in the past. I’ve not even seen the treatment plan yet but I already have confidence it’s going to make a real difference. I felt really listened to and well understood”

Sports Therapy & Massage FAQ

  • Sports therapy involves assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries through tailored rehabilitation exercises, acupuncture and dry needlings, sports massage and joint mobilisations. Sports massage focuses on soft tissue manipulation to decrease muscle pain and improve recovery, as well as improve overall range of motion and flexibility to support safe and effective movement.

  • The main difference between sports therapy and physiotherapy lies in their areas of focus. Sports therapy is tailored to athletes and active individuals, focused on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and optimisation of performance through exercises, manual therapy and rehabilitation programmes. Physiotherapy is a less specialised field, addressing a range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

  • Sports massage is for anyone active — some of our most common complaints are aching knees, painful shoulders and back pain.

  • Please wear loose and comfortable clothing. To do an accurate assessment and offer treatment our Sports Therapist will often need to uncover the body part in question. If you have an upper body, neck or back problem you may be required to remove your top half. Please wear underwear you feel comfortable in or bring a vest top. For a lower limb issue we suggest you wear shorts.
